Ambassador Prakash Kumar Suvedi assumed the position of the Executive Director of the Institute of Foreign Affairs in April 2024. He was a career officer of Nepal Foreign Service, who joined the service in July 1988 and retired in June 2022.
During his 34-year-long career in Nepal Foreign Service, he served in various Nepali missions abroad and political divisions at the Ministry. He headed the South Asia Division and General Administration Division as Joint Secretary. He was the logistic coordinator of the 18th Summit of the SAARC Heads of the State or Governments held in Kathmandu on November 26-27.
He has served as Nepali Ambassador to Austria, concurrently accredited to Croatia, Greece, and Slovenia, and Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna from 2016 to 2020.
Ambassador Suvedi has a Master of Arts in Economics from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, and a Master of Arts in International Relations from the International University of Japan. Similarly, he holds a Diploma in International Relations from Institut International d’Administration Publique, Paris, France.
He has undergone various professional trainings. They include, 40 th Senior Executive Development Programme at Nepal Administrative Staff College; US- South Asia Leader Engagement Program at Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Executive Education; Advance Security Course at Asia Pacific Center for Strategic Studies, Hawaii; Singapore Experience of Development at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore; and International Public Law at The Hague Summer School.
Ambassador Suvedi is married and has a daughter and a son.
