Former Executive Directors of IFA

Established as a semi-autonomous body in 1998, the Institute of Foreign Affairs started working as a supporting unit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal. Previously the Institute was attached to the Division of the United Nations and International Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

However, in 1996 a High Profile Recommendation Commission headed by a well-known former Foreign Secretary Mr Uddav Dev Bhatt recommended a series of reforms for the improvement of the Institute giving the present shape of the organization to make it efficient and effective to let it work as an organization to provide feedbacks considered necessary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Besides, the Institute is made responsible for managing and providing training as required for officials and officers working under the provision of the Foreign Service. Thus, with the twin objectives of providing feedback to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and also managing training, the Institute has been operating its activities since its establishment more than two decades ago. Currently, Mr Prakash Kumar Suvedi is the Executive Director.
