IFA Executive Director meets Mr. Fadli Adilah
Mr. Fadli Adilah, Charge d’ Affairs a. i. of Malaysia to Nepal met Executive Director, Dr. Adhikari on 17 April 2012 at the Institute of Foreign Affairs. Executive Director welcomed Mr. Fadli and briefed on the objective of the institute and proposed exploring possible cooperation from Malaysian Embassy towards the development of the institute. During the meeting, Executive Director Dr. Rishi Adhikari stressed the need to develop institutional cooperation between the embassy and the institute and requested to facilitate links with Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign relations of Malaysia as well as with the Institute of Strategic and International Studies of Malaysia.
Mr. Fadli informed that the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations of Malaysia conducts a special course on Diplomacy to the newly recruited officers of the Foreign Ministry of Malaysia for the duration of 6 months. After the completion of the course, successful trainees are awarded “Diploma” certificates. Before that all the newly recruited Malaysian Government Officers have to undertake 6-months’ Diploma Course on Public Administration at the Institute of Public Administration of Malaysia.
He expressed his willingness to cooperate with the Institute of Foreign Affairs to strengthen the Institutes’ capability in imparting training to the newly recruited officers as well as senior officers who are working in the Ministry. At present Malaysia is willing to cooperate Nepalese Foreign Service Cadres by providing two types of training such as:
i. 2-weeks training programme for international participants to be held at the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations in Kuala Lumpur;
ii. 4-weeks programme for foreign trainees who are the cadres of the Foreign Ministry of other countries including Nepal.
Those two participants could be selected on the basis of their performances at the Basic Courses on Diplomacy and Foreign Relation to be conducted by the Institute of Foreign Affairs to the newly recruited officers at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal. On the occasion, Deputy Executive Director Mr. K. N. Shrestha was also present.
