Meeting with the Ambassador of Japan to Nepal on 31 October 2012
Dr. Rishi Raj Adhikari, Executive Director of the Institute of Foreign Affairs of Nepal paid a courtesy call on to His Excellency Mr. Kunio Takahashi, Ambassador of Japan at his office today. During the meeting, Dr. Adhikari briefed about the ongoing activities of the IFA as well as future course of directions to be taken by the Institute to strengthen the institutionalization of the Institute.
Japanese Ambassador shared that the Foreign Service Training Institute (FSTI) of Japan is primarily responsible to the management of training to cadres of the Foreign Ministry of Japan. The Japanese Institute of International Affairs (JIIA) is non-governmental policy think-tank focused on foreign affairs and security issues. He further informed that exchange of professionals, experts is possible between the counterpart organizations.
HE Mr. Takahashi further expressed that he will facilitate to link between IFA and Japanese private think-tank institutions. Workshops, seminars, talk programme can be held inviting Japanese scholars in international relations, diplomacy and security issues, according to him. Many scholars when visiting Nepal can also be invited for this purpose.
Regarding the strengthening of the IFA, he, being a former head of the research department of the JIIA agreed to share his experiences in a talk programme to be organized by the IFA after Tihar about the proper management and organization of the similar institution Japan.
During the meeting, Mr. Khush N. Shrestha, Deputy Executive Director was also present.
