Biography / Professional Profile
Pralhad Gupta is a clean energy researcher specialising in hydrogen technologies, sustainable energy systems, and energy policy. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Mechanics (Energy and Resources Engineering) at Peking University, China, where his research focuses on green hydrogen-to-ammonia systems through integrated techno-economic analysis and lifecycle assessment. He earned his Master's degree in Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics from Tsinghua University in 2018. With extensive experience in hydrogen research and technology development, Gupta has worked across hydrogen systems, electric mobility, and sustainable energy transitions, applying techno-economic analysis, lifecycle assessment, and integrated energy systems approaches to evaluate the technical, economic, and environmental dimensions of emerging clean energy technologies. Prior to his doctoral studies, he worked with the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) and Kathmandu University's Green Hydrogen Lab, contributing to key initiatives including Nepal's first hydrogen refuelling station development, hydrogen technology research initiatives, and electric vehicle conversion and prototype development. As a Fellow in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) Summer Internship 2026 Programme, Gupta's research explores the feasibility of domestic green urea production using Nepal's hydropower resources and examines its implications for fertiliser security, energy diplomacy, and Nepal's post-LDC development agenda. He is committed to producing evidence-based research that bridges technology, policy, and implementation to support Nepal's transition towards a secure, resilient, and low-carbon energy future.
