Kritika Ghimire is a Project Manager at SpeakUp Nepal, where she works on civic technology, democratic governance, and public policy initiatives that strengthen the relationship between citizens and public institutions. Her work includes developing AI-enabled public service systems, supporting citizen engagement platforms, and collaborating with government agencies, elected representatives, and international development partners to improve public participation and institutional accountability.
A graduate of Hamilton College with a degree in Anthropology and a minor in Asian Studies, Kritika approaches governance through both research and practice. Her work is grounded in understanding how public institutions, policies, and development interventions are experienced in everyday life. Her research has focused on migration, educational inequality, governance, and social change in Nepal. Her undergraduate thesis examined how visa systems and education consultancies shape access to global opportunities for Nepali students, while other ethnographic research explored the persistence of menstrual exclusion despite legal reform.
Beyond her work in civic technology, Kritika has contributed to research, teaching, and development initiatives across Nepal, the United States, and Europe. She will begin an MSc in Anthropology and Development at the London School of Economics, where she intends to further explore questions of digital governance, democratic participation, and the role of public institutions in shaping more equitable and responsive societies. Through both research and practice, she seeks to contribute to governance approaches that are evidence-based, citizen-centered, and grounded in local realities.
