Mr. Sambhav Lamichhane

Biography / Professional Profile

Sambhav is a researcher and product builder working at the intersection of data, finance, and development policy. Born and raised in Kathmandu, he completed dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Financial Management and Data Analytics at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota, where he begins a Master of Science in Data Science in fall 2026.

His experience spans quantitative finance research, product management, and applied economics. He has worked as a quantitative researcher studying financial markets, a virtual reality developer building immersive learning tools, and a product manager driving AI-focused growth initiatives. He has also explored a concept project examining how fintech could extend financial services to unbanked informal workers in Nepal and Mexico. Alongside his research, he currently leads strategy and growth for his family's fitness center business in Kathmandu.

His research focuses on development finance, financial inclusion, and labour migration. At the Institute of Foreign Affairs, as part of the 2026 MoFA Summer Internship (Cluster 10: Development Finance and Investment Diplomacy), he examines the payment provisions Nepal should embed in its bilateral labour agreements to reduce remittance costs and strengthen formal cost monitoring.

Sambhav brings a cross-border, data-driven perspective to questions of economic diplomacy and inclusive growth.
