Abstract / Summary

This talk programme report, Silk Route: Enhancing Nepal-China Connectivity, presents discussions and policy perspectives on the historical and strategic importance of the Silk Route in strengthening Nepal-China relations and regional connectivity. Organized by the Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA) to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China, the programme brought together policymakers, diplomats, scholars, and experts to explore opportunities for trade, infrastructure development, tourism, transit connectivity, and regional economic cooperation.

The report highlights Nepal’s potential role as a bridge between China and South Asia under emerging initiatives such as the Silk Road Economic Belt and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Through keynote addresses, paper presentations, and panel discussions, the programme emphasized enhanced connectivity, cross-border infrastructure, economic integration, and strategic cooperation as key drivers for Nepal’s long-term development and regional engagement.
